Available Results

Survey #1

The results from the first survey are now available as this pdf download. (just click, or right-click)
The pdf is based on a poster presented at the Canadian Society of Epidemiology & Biostatistics conference. The results were also presented at the annual IN-CAM symposium (Canadian Interdisciplinary Network of CAM Researchers).

A couple of comments to consider when looking at the results:

  • There was a 12% return rate (low). Was it those people interested in research who responded?
  • The majority of surveys were sent out rather late. What was the impact on decisions to respond?
  • I had to shut the websurvey down after a one-week extension. Mail surveys continued to arrive for two months. That may account for some of the differences between the two methods.

Survey #2

So far (Aug 25), I have received 684 questionnaires back. Thank you! Please encourage your colleagues to participate. The more surveys I receive the stronger and more representative of you, manual therapy practitioners, the information from the survey will be.

I am also thrilled by your supportive response to the requests for interviews. I have received over 250 at this point for the 25 to 30 interviews I will be doing. My thanks to you all! The selection process is open until all the interviews have been completed, so feel free to continue to volunteer!
