Survey 2

Even if you have missed August 22, you can still send in your survey! I will continue to accept them. While I have received about 700 surveys, the more I receive the better the data will represent you, the practitioners. Please send them in as soon as possible. Thank you for your interest in participating.

This survey is for CAM manual therapy practitioners throughout Alberta. The questionnaires will be distributed through organizations and spas by mail, as per results of Survey #1. If you have not already received a questionnaire, you can participate by reviewing the information on the Participation Page. You will find a downloadable copy of the questionnaire and volunteer form there, but do read the information on this page, too.

There are two parts to Survey #2. The main survey will be a demographic questionnaire collecting information in the following areas:

  • practice settings (clinic, spa, on-site, etc.)
  • therapies/modalities practiced & the training for them
  • basic demographics of the patients/clients (gender ratio and age range
  • general descriptors on purpose of client visits
  • some basic demographics of the practitioners

There is a second component to this survey in which about 25 representative practitioner volunteers will be interviewed to gain further understanding of how clinical decisions are made and therapies blended together in treatments when more than one therapy is provided by the practitioner. For more information or to volunteer for an interview, click here.

This information should give anyone interested in the field of CAM manual therapies a clearer picture of the complex and myriad ways that these services are provided, and an understanding of the population that uses them. That information will be invaluable to developing effective research and health policy.

This survey has been supported by grants from:

  • The Massage Therapy Foundation www.massagetherapyfoundation.org
  • The Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research www.incamresearch.ca
  • The Canadian Chair in Complementary and Alternative Medicine Reserch,
Dr. Verhoef, who is my PhD Thesis Supervisor.

Ethical Clearance
